Invisible City to be Released October 28th on Oxide Tones

“Invisible City,” Tunturia’s equivalent of “Chinese Democracy,” will be available on October 28th through Oxide Tones. The album is a narrative based loosely around the Russian folk tale of the City of Kitezh. But don’t let the pretentious subject matter fool you, the record is an enjoyable musical romp touching on ambient, post rock and instrumental sounds which hopefully, unlike “Chinese Democracy,” won’t be a terribly prolonged and bloated musical disappointment.

We’re excited to finally be able to share this with everyone. The album has been the culmination of a lot of hard work and, despite numerous delays and false starts, we’re glad to finally get it into the hands of everyone who bore with us these past few years. Thanks to everyone’s patience and support and to all the people who helped make it happen.

Album Mastered

I hold in my greasy little palms (well figuratively hold anyway) the final mastered copy of “Invisible City.” The album is ‘complete’ in almost every sense of the word (well ‘complete’ save for the pressing, artwork and final logistics surrounding its distribution).

The devil is in the details, or so the popular aphorism goes. Perhaps there is some more detailed work that must be done before we can finally disseminate the record on a mass scale but, rest assured when I say that musically, we are done.

I must go now. A cat is pawing at my keyboard……

A New Voice

As Myspace becomes less and less useful as a valid tool for communication and Facebook is, well, annoying, I’ve decided to try and centralize any information and updates pertaining to Tunturia on this blog. I’ll try and keep it as updated and informative as possible whilst simultaneously sparing the reader from the tedious minutiae which comprises the daily functions of keeping this juggernaut of a musical project afloat.

As a lot of people have already noticed the new album has been taking an inordinate amount of time to complete. It’s been a long and interesting haul. Rest assured we are almost done. All that remains is mastering and the pressing which we are aiming to complete in the first half of this year. Don’t believe me, well, all I can say is that Tunturia is finally getting into gear and beginning the next chapter of is sonic explorations. We have caught our second wind so to speak. In fact much of the reason for starting this blog is simply because we see 2011 as being a productive year and are eager to finally move forward. And by saying this I hope haven’t just shot myself in the foot with my naive optimism.
